Deadly Secrets (Detective Erika Foster #6) by Robert Bryndza

Ripped through the last Detective Erika Foster in the series in a day and a half.

The story picks up ten days after the ending of Book 5 Some monster wearing a gasmask is stalking men and women with no sense of pattern. There is a horrific murder of a young, burlesque dancer to kick things off.

Plot and police investigation move along at a cracking pace with plenty of false clues and dead ends along. This time we see a deeper delving into the lives of those closest to Erika and loose ends tied up.

Thought the ending was weak, and I didn’t like the handover from our hero to another character. Nor the ‘going alone and not telling anyone signalling this will end in disaster‘ plot mechanic.

Maybe not as enjoyable as others in the series, but Deadly Secrets is still good. But the next Detective Erika Foster book, Fatal Witness, was the best I’ve read in quite some time.
