Divided House (The Dark Yorkshire Crime Thrillers Book 1) by J. M. Dalgliesh

Took me a while to get to grips with Divided House but after a couple of chapters, the story gathers speed.

Essentially, our hero is a middle management detective with considerable broken marriage, parental, drink, and drug baggage trying to solve a custody death.

The plot thickens and there are a couple of deaths close to home to add suspense. The story unfolds nicely although there are some plot anchors never fully explained or resolved satisfactorily.

Saying that the finale is exciting with the trigger, event and resumption all well written. The final clue leading to ‘mole’ identification didn’t make much sense to me.
