The Sound of Rain by Gregg Olsen (2023)

The Sound of Rain by Gregg Olsen

A twisty whodunnit with many surprises and turns along the way.

Nicole Foster, a former homicide detective, has hit rock bottom, having been turfed off the force by her partner and, oh dear, lover.

Struggling with a gambling addiction and, oh dear again, flat broke, Nicole clings to the dream of a warm bed at a homeless shelter. Despite her circumstances, she can’t let go of the haunting memories of three-year-old Kelsey Chase, whose murder case ended her career.

As Nicole obsesses over the old facts, she realizes that everything about the case felt off and there are far too many questions without answers.

When the little girl’s grieving father begs Nicole for help, she’s given one shot at redemption and drawn back into the investigation.

This is a fast paced book with an ending not expected at all.

This book introduced me to Gregg Olsen, whom I belatedly found out, has been writing for 20 years but had never appeared on my radar.
