Indemnity Only by Sara Paretsky

I’m kicking myself for only discovering Sara Paretsky in 2020 because Indemnity Only was written almost 30 years old and I think the author would have fit within my small pool of authors I was reading during that period.

This is gripping stuff with rich detail and a likeable private detective right from the off. Police procedure is minimal – good – and there are numerous characters.

Saying that I did find the story ponderous at times and the reactions of some characters OTT. However, the book clips along and the central plot is believable.
